This movie confirms to its generic conventions, so I wouldn’t change the movie dramatically.
I would use the same iconographies such as:
- Knifes
- Blood
- Masked killer
Women in horror films are most of the time represented as the weaker sex who dies first; therefore I would change the order in which characters. Furthermore I would use characters who my audience can relate to such as, over weight characters in order to break the stereotype that all actors are anorexic also reflecting the Zeitgeist.
'Friday 13th'
- The original Friday the 13th film was produced and directed by Sean S. Cunningham he wanted Friday the 13th to be “shocking, visually stunning, and make you jump out of your seat"
- The first film was meant to be "a real scary movie" and at the same time make the audience laugh. Friday the 13th began its life as nothing more than a title.
- Following the success of Friday the 13th in 1980, Paramount Pictures began plans to make a sequel. "We wanted it to be an event, where teenagers would flock to the theatres on that Friday night to see the latest episode."
- The initial ideas for a sequel involved the Friday the 13th title being used for a series of films, released once a year. With every film repeating the same premise, the filmmakers had to come up with little tweaks to provide freshness so the audience would return.
- The concept of a crossover between Freddy and Jason was not new since Paramount had approached New Line, years before they had gained the rights to Friday the 13th, about doing a crossover film.
- Freddy and Jason were finally set to meet in 2003. One of the biggest hurdles for the film was developing a story that managed to bring the two horror icons together.
